The dataset is converted to file geodatabase (FGDB) format using tools in ArcGIS. The geometry is checked, and if needed repaired.
After processing, the dataset is checked for drawing display and number of records and file sizes compared with source materials.
Horizontal positional accuracy is dependent on geographic area. In most areas, accuracy is between 5 and 25 meters (16 and 82 feet). In some areas, accuracy is off by up to several tens of meters (100 feet or more). In the poorest areas, accuracy is off by up to 100 meters (328 feet).

Added fields to match the Data and Maps 2023 U.S. ZIP Code Areas. Joined the Postal District Names table to get the field PO_NAME. Added the field STATE and coded it by overlaying on the Administrative Area Order 1 feature class from TomTom MultiNet North America. Added the field POPULATION (alias POPULATION_2023). Added the field SQMI and calculated its values. Added and calculated the field POP_SQMI (alias POP23_SQMI). Removed unneeded fields.
